Frustrations !!!
I have bought and am trying to fit a Back carrier rack to a Scrambler 500
However, the standard rear carrier rack for a Gen 3 polaris chasis does not directly fit the EUROPEAN version of the scrambler.
The EU version has a rear grab bar fitted which needs to be removed. Unfortuantly this also mounts the EU indicators .
So new bracket will have to be made so that i can remove the grab bar and still mount the indicators . 'Easy' , i hear you all cry. Well, considering ive not crafted a piece of metal since senior school ( big 40 this year), i have absolutly no ideas as to how im going to do this or what tools i need.
Ok, so im usless - any advice on how to make steel brackets is much appreciated :o
Here are some pics for your entertainment

Thanks for that wellzy, Im really looking to learn what i need and how to do this myself.
I think when you have a quad you going to have to learn stuff like this sooner or later. Been able to 'mod' bit is a needed skill. Trouble is people are so use to things been standard fit that many dont learn the skills.
My Dad used to make everything and anything himself. If he needed a bracket he would get a piece of sheet steel from the corner of the garage and make one from it.
Wish id listened to him now lol

Danny you spoon, why didnt you ring me and ask?
You take the upper part of the rear grab bar and turn it upside down and reattach the indicators on the side again, you will need a smaller number plate to fit in the square gap in the middle of the grab bar thats now hanging down so you can see all the letters and numbers. ring me I'll explain in detail:)

All done now. I turned the bracket upside down and repositioned the indicators. Ill put some pics on later.
One question though , where do you get a smaller number plate ? I went to Halfords and they stated that the one i had was the smallest they do anyway. I refitted it and the bottem is slightly obscured but you can still easily read it.
I would like to get a smaller one though as i dont want to give the 'ole bill' an excuse to pull me over. Doesnt need to be a much smaller , just a fraction.

The Legal standard plate is 9 * 7
I found a place that will do 'show plates' and make one 9 * 6.5
I believe it will look identicle to a normal road legal plate just 0.5 inches shorter which will be ideal for my purpose. As its a show plate, im not required to produce the necessary documents. I am assured that there will be a removable 'sticker' on the back of the plate identifying it as a show plate and therefore NOT road legal. I am told you have to be careful as these sometimes fall off all by themselves. *cough*
I am sure that all police carrier calibrated rulers to ensure that plate are the proper size.
I will of course never drive my quad on the road with the new plate, as that .5 inch could make all the differeance. ;)

Ok , so i turned it upside down. Worked fine but it did obscure the number plate a little. I did buy and fit a slightly smaller number plate, but i thougt it was still a little obstructive.
Answer : hack the damn hand hold off with a dremmel. lol . No more problem lol. Did a neat job too.
Thank God for Dremmels, Marvelouse tools. :D
