do never ever buy a yamaha that is nearly 10 or more years old as it is a fact that yamaha axle's will go after the 10 year mark!:mad:

MOD COMMENT

PLEASE DO NOT MAKE RASH AND UNINFORMED STATEMENTS THAT WILL ANNOY OWNERS WHO ARE PROUD OF THEIR YAMAHAS . IF IT IS A FACT THEN SHOW US THE EVIDENCE TO BACK UP WHAT YOU SAY .

I think any quad axle that gets to 10 years old is a rarity considering the treatment they get .

The strongest axles are possibly the ones on Predators because they are made from Chromoly which is much stronger than competitive steel and Polaris give them a lifetime guarantee, dont think they would do that if it was not good .

can-am cv axle's are quite strong and long lasting.
champ axle's are next to impossible to break.

I dont think this will put me off buying a Yamaha in future, maybe when they bring out an 800cc Raptor :)
There is no evidence to suggest that Yamaha axles are of a lower standard than anything else .

i am not saying don't get one, just don't get a second hand that is 7 or over years old, it would be better to buy new:)

So if I buy a new Yamaha and just leave it in my garage for 10 years will the axle be nackered? and do Yamaha fit any other solid parts that are time sensitive?

so come on then wellzy, where is the proof of your so called fact ?
just because you know of one that has does not mean they are all going to snap.
Metal fatigue will be the key here and if one has done hardly any miles then how is this going to affect it or have you now finished a metalurgy degree along with your mechanic qualification ?

I was going to get a Yam next but not so sure now LOL, the axles on quads are actually amazing things when you consider the bending moments they have to endure, they always look on the spindly side but are surprisingly strong .
I certainly do not believe that Yam axles are inferior to any other make .
