I believe some of you use GPS devices on your quads.
Road Angel seom to do the following models:
- Navigator 9000
- Adventurer 7000
- Navigator 7000
- Navigator 6000
- Road Angel Navigator
Any comments on which is best for quads and do any of you use any of these (I'm guessing the 7000 Adventurer as they say its waterproof)? If so, did you have to buy a special mounting kit ?
Anybody use any other make ?

i have the navigator 7000, i think they are the same except the adventurer comes with pre loaded memory map, southern england memory map cost about £40 and you can get the road angel for less than £200, it is a brilliant sat nav in normal mode and superb when using memory map ordnance survey

I use the RA 7000 too.
You will see them used in action on your ride out with us.

My Road Angel 7000 had its first little accident yesterday, I was travelling at 50mph when it decided to jump out of its mounting and roll down the road, the front facia came off and is broken and there are a few little marks but it still works and got us round yesterdays route 100% perfectly .
Very impressive and sturdy design .

Got the road angel covered in mud and water sunday, still worked a treat, i find it a little confusing occasionally when the memory map does not always orientate itself to the direction of travel, but mostly its great .

This Road Angel seems to be the kit to have. Can you guys that use it answer some simple questions for me? Always better to get it from those that use it...
Can you produce exact itineries on the PC and transfer them straight onto the unit without having to convert them in anyway first?
Does it then guide you exactly along the route you have made on the PC without the unit deciding on its own way from A to B?
How accurate is it when you get off the beaten track, does it pick up the trails/lanes etc well?
Can you charge it as you are riding along?
When you are riding can you set the level of zoom on the map or does it automatically go to a set level of detail?
Thanks guys.

You can produce exact routes and transfer it to the road angel then it will guide you damn near if not 100% accurately, you can zoom in and out, you get a cigarette lighter lead with it, it does not deviate from a set route, it is sturdy having survived a 50mph tumble down the road and is water and mud resistant .
Nuff said
It is less than £200

It is exactly the same as an ordnance survey map, the road angel does not come with this facility though, it comes as a sat nav, you will need to buy the memory map program and a memory card, Danny is the best person to advise on the best accessories .

Thanks RP, I'm getting very tempted... Got a TomTom rider for the bike but I think I might sell it and go for one of these.

you wont regret it, i am not very gadget tech minded but i can use it effectively, that says it all .
I used it on a night ride and it found the byways perfectly and danny used it on our salisbury plain ride which is a nightmare with tracks everywhere .

last question. Can you make a route, use it and then email it to someone else to use if you found it a good route?

yes but only if they too have memory map although Danny does know how to convert them to a viewable file .
