Having been involved in the recent friendly Harley Davidson debate :) I thought I would start another thread .
What is/was your favourite machine and why, is it just the sound/look, comfort, performance ?

My top 5;

Yamaha RD350LC - love the power delivery of a nice sharp power band, love the sound of Micron expansion chambers and the smell of two stroke, real excitement from an age gone by .

Supermarine Spifire - no engine sounds as good as the Merlin, no other machine looks as good, makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up when I see one put through its paces - nuff said

Volkswagon Scirrocco GTI - loved my Mk1 Scirrocco for its lightweight/high power combination at the time, lots of wheelspinning fun from its front wheel drive

Yamaha Raptor 700 - all round great quad, easy going power delivery, nice nuetral handling and the ultimate reliability in a quad

Triumph Bonneville 790 Hinckley - many would sneer at this bike but those who ride them know different, not the fastest but a nice smooth flow of strong torque combined with a superb ride and good handling makes for a great bike, the admiring looks from others as you ride by, people mistaking them for vintage bikes, traditional features in a modern package - just nice :)

BSA Gold Star, only reason I love the way the exhaust used to sort of twitter on the over run

My old Vaxhall HB viva stuffed full of a Jenson Intercepter lump that would melt its tyres for miles

And without a doubt the Aberg Yamaha! Oh how I want mess in my undies

It was only the shell really G as every thing underneath was none Vauxhall with a lot of major fabrication work as the motor came inside the firewall around 10" , was painted red over gold Embassy colours of the time

And as for the Aberg Yam that is 1978/79 tecnoligy and the tanks were Yam YZ 125 items

I remember riding a Triumph Speed Twin 5T years ago, that had drum brakes and I pulled the brakes and almost nothing happened, still dont know how I did not go into the back of the car in front :scared:
The TLS brakes were much better .

I think Harley Davidson bought a injunction out againts them for stealing their brake design they had drawn up for all there future bikes :crazy:

well for mine it still has to be the good old mk2 escort. i spent 9 months stripping and rebuilding it ready for when i passed my test. so much effort went into getting it ready...... such a good strong car.

then the jag xj6. people say it was an old mans car but i loved it to bits. the engine was smooth and reliable. the rear diff was a bit iffy on some.

2 wheels..... i rebuilt this california import zx7r from the ground up. took me a while but enjoyed it alot. this was mallory park where it got a damn good thrashing. made some newer bikes look daft

Had a nice v8 daimler for many years and also loved my lotus (but cant tell you which one as RP spent years trying to find out and cant let the cat out of the bag now)

Sorry, please excuse my ignorance of Vauxhall Viva models :), I was in a Viva when it ran into a deep ditch, my mate had just passed his test and the back end spun round down a country lane, a farmer pulled it out and we managed to drive home but it wrote the car off and I remember the look on his dad`s face when we eventually got back with it :)
