Hi All
Just found your excellent little bit of the web and your local to where I live which is a bonus!

Could I please ask for some advice / opinion please.
I have been riding knackered old farm quads (Honda's) for years but feel a real midlife urge to get out on the trails and have some rather serious fun.

So I am looking around for a road legal selectable 4X4 utility (ish) quad that I can use for my normal various countryside type use and some serious trail riding as well.
It would be good if it could take a decent electric winch and some sort of load tray!

Hope to see you all out on the trails soon!

Welcome Graham,

Great to have you aboard.

I have a Polaris Scrambler 500 4x4. Its a kind of Sports/ATV hybrid, with sports body styling but a large ATV chasis and power. For lesuire riding i think its great and being a polaris you can get lots of accessries for it. Due to its relatively hugh ground clearance and 4x4 capability ive never had it stuck on a rut ...... yet !!!! :) It difficult to fit a winch on it though. Im having to get a plate imported from the US.

I think its really difficult to find a new quad. So many opinions and experiance to sort through. I like Polaris bikes. They are good solid reliable machines, not always the latest in terms of technology but in my experiance at least very dependable. If i was looking for a new quad for the type of use you describe i would be looking at Polaris Sportsman 800 or a CanAm outlander 800. There are some comments on this board about the outlander been a bit unreliable though.

Hope you enjoy the site.

Danny.

I would suggest narrowing your choice down to three quads and then go on some quad Forums and try and get some unbiased opinions on them.
