I really dont know how they pass as road legal, dont they have to have SVA or any checks, someone, somewhere is breaking the law .
If any of the guys we saw the other day on those chinese quads is reading this, do yourselves a favour and get rid of them ASAP and get a decent make like Honda, Polaris, Yamaha, Can-am, Kawaskai, Suzuki (no particular order there) etc .
Those quads will self destruct eventually .

I believe they are Homologated. Just show how little the Government know about quads and whats safe .
The Quad take-up in the UK is growing quite fast and we have death traps like this around !!!

The thing about the chinese quads is that they look so bad from an engineering point of view, in engineering there is an old saying ` if it looks right, it is right`, on that basis the chinese need to eat more carrots .
On top of that, the materials look so poor and the quality of the fastenings is unbelievably poor .
Just dont do it people .

They are not homologated in the way Polaris are, I have no worries about the quality of my homologated Pred (oh all right, the indicators are crap, prob chinese LOL) but everything else is fine, Qz are homologated and are pretty good, I think the chinese importers make one up specially to get through a test and dont bother with the rest .

My god, Some of those bikes in those google ads are shocking. How do people get away with selling that crap. I fear it going to take a few fatal accidents before the government clamp down on these cowboys.

i think there must be a legal loophole being exploited that allows the sale of chinese quads, there is no way any of them would pass the proper SVA examination .

Just deleted some pics in my attachments, try again, this is such a heap of junk it was worth the effort to put these on, start at those exhausts, then the headlight, then the dodgy looking suspension, everything about this junk looks out of proportion and badly designed .
I would rather not have a quad than this .

They do not need a sva examination (msva to be correct) as they are european homologated. An msva,d quad is only valid in uk. what happens when you take it to europe is another matter.
each part of a motor vehicle is "E" certified by different states within the eu community. ie, e11 on tyres means it is holland/netherlands? that certified them.
Ragardless of what member state homologates a vehicle, all member states have to accept them regardless of how bad these chinese quads are.
the british government is currently lobbying the EU to ban micro cars (these electric things that are buzzing around all over london) claiming they dont meet up to crash testing. Quads are also in the micro car category.
What they really mean is these electric micro cars pay nothing within london (congestion charge, parking etc) therefore the government wants them removed.
A bike can do nearly 200mph and will not stand up to crash tesing either but they are ok?? Double standards again...
China sells us so much way below par junk (ie tools, quads, motorbikes) and all the time demand is there we will continue to get flooded with this junk.
Shame these idiots on ebay dont try using some of the junk they are selling first but guess they dont care as they are only in it for the money.
Went into a mobile phone shop and guess what, they give you a free chinese quad when you take out a contract ;(

This is a serious commnet .....
As a complete novice in the quad world myself a few weeks ago I was fairly close to buying some of the "chinese stuff" myself. Unfortunately most people are not lucky enough to use google and stumble across an association such as the BHQTA and be given some helpful advice like I was lucky enough to receive. My quad cost me more money than I wanted to spend, but looking back i'm really glad I spent the extra. To be honest I think most people would be better buying a second hand decent quad than one of these new ones.
Now I look at the pictures posted it makes me laugh and I can see its crap myself after only a few hundered miles quadding, but unfortunately most people buying their first quad wouldn't know this. Its sad, but in my opinion its marketing thats selling this crap.
Lets hope more people find sites like this and get some honest advice.
Playing devils advocate, I guess we need somebody on this site to buy one and review it to get a 100% honest view....not me!!
Oh well, my 2p worth for what its worth....

Good point but if we spent money on crap like that we would be adding to the profits of people that import it .
Unfortunately we can do nothing to stop it, I would not waste my time trying, even if we did stop one company there would possibly be another dozen start up, its easy money because quads are desirable and at those prices they look a bargain .
Its the old supply and demand syndrome at work .

I like chinky quads!!!! they give us all something to laugh at, they make a good sturdy base for a BBQ, you can give the kids all the nuts and bolts to use as playdoh, the chains make good belts as there so stretchy, the plastics are fantastic for use as frisbees, the stator windings are great for locking wire, they are good for learning how to use the correct type of mole grips/pliers and various weight hammers, and theres not a hope in hells chance of even the gypos nicking one, and most of all there biodegradable
