Just put a Pure Polaris pipe on and is it loud or what, the power comes in at the top end like a two stroke now, christ is it quick, the original pipe was very restrictive, it had a gauze baffle (not a spark arrestor) just after the joint with the header pipes that would be difficult to fart through let alone allow an engine to breathe .
The volume will be a problem though, I got the pipe second hand £100 so good value .
Next, I have ordered some motorbike mini indictors at £9 each to replace broken ones that are held together with tape LOL .
Next, a rear grab rail, then K&N air filter to really get that pipe working, its gonna fly :D
Next, a Vapour digital speedo to replace the piece of crap that came with the quad, it gets to 70mph then goes back to 0 when I accelerate
Next, a 36 tooth rear sprocket .
Next, save more money .

Just been wheelie ing around on the quad, the extra power from the Pure Polaris pipe allows the engine to rev out a bit more and once the revs are about half a quick blip is all that is needed to bring the front wheels up

Found out today that the new exhaust is starting to give off a lot of heat and is melting a small area of the plastic fender above it, a small heat shield is the next mod to be done .

:eek::eek::eek:
Thats not good. So not only does it sound like a tank - it smells like want too
RED PRED

I think the main cause of the melting was because on that pipe, do you remeber the insert discs that are used to adjust the noise level, I had them in the wrong way and the exhaust heat was blowing back towards the plastic, I changed it round today and seemed better .By christ it goes well with the full amount of discs, sounds great as well, not like a tank, it does smell though .

may i suggest that you put some 2 stroke oil in your tank as quad bike racers put 2 stroke oil in there 4 stroke quads to keep them free and to cut down on smells, but only put a few drops in like 6 drops max and if that does not work, put some redex for petrol in your feul tank.

Thats a new one to me, the smell is from the slightly molten plastic which hopefully wont happen any more, its just one of those things to look out for when you change exhaust pipes .

It amazing the amount of money that can be spent on quads, I love getting new bits to put on .
The Pred is a great quad to get bits for, it seems a shame that Polaris are not bringing out a new Predator which is lighter in weight with more power, I guess the development costs must be very high for a company which I have heard is struggling for cash .
Just Imagine
PREDATOR 2
Lightweight Aluminium swinging arm
Wider and lower
25% more torque and HP
25% lighter weight
Revised styling but keeping those menacing bug eyes
Upgraded shocks etc
The mouth waters at the thought

Just a thought, what would we buy when the time comes to replace our Preddies ?

Well the DS 450 looks good at the moment, but it won't be long before the Japs build something better and cheaper. Also KFX 450 Race ready and with a reverse gear but still lighter than LTR 450. The problem I have with the Pred. is getting genuine parts quickly for it. It's not the dealers the problem is wth Polaris uk itself.

Indicators, rear light and number plate carrier, grab bar mods .
Have been spannering again, my rear end is looking really tidy, I had a bit of a tight squeeze getting it all in but a bit of brute force and lubrication and it slipped snugly in place .
I feel very satisfied with my handiwork and cant wait to show it off to you guys .

Do not use a motorcycle number plate/light hanger, the one I got cracked on both mountings, not up to the job .
You can get some very useful galvanised ironmongery (brackets, metal strips etc) at the Trade Depot which can me made into really good brackets for quads, I have redesigned my hanger and made it out of some galvanised strip and it is very strong .

A few little problems with the wiring, i used crimped spade connections to connect the new indicators to the Preds wiring, dont because they are crap, in the end i soldered the wire ends together and insluated, much better connection .

Just a warning, I used a dab of super glue yesterday, gave it a bit of time to cure then carried on tightening a bolt, i did not know there was a blob of super glue on the spanner so ended up with a spanner stuck on my finger, got it off by cutting through the glue with a razor blade but did nick my finger .

Typibloodycal, the sprocket i have been sent does not go on the shaft, thats the second one that is no good, the first did not have the drilled holes in the right place, i guess some things are not meant to be .

RP try the Rocket Center, a few people I know have had the same problem but not with them.
RED PRED
25th November 2007, 09:20 PM
NJK, this sprocket is from the rocket centre:( .
The standard one fits nice and easily but this one wont go on the shaft any more than about 1mm and i am not about to get the copper/hide mallet out .
I doubt the shaft is a different diameter to other Preds so i assume they have sent me a general sprocket-NOT GOOD
NJK
25th November 2007, 09:44 PM
I don't know then mate, mine went straight on. Have you called them?
RED PRED

Got the little bugger on, I have never known a sprocket so tight on the shaft, i gave it a few taps with a hammer and socket and it went on but I may need pullers to get it off when the time arises .
Had to make a new chain case saver because of the larger radius of the sprocket causing the chain to foul on the original saver-job done .
