Dont worry about your quad, I started on an XLC, good little quad for the money and had a lot of fun on it, good to have you on board :welcomeani:
Assuming yours is standard, the best and cheapest mod to make on your quad would be to change the gearing so you are not thrashing it all the time, I have posted details about it on here ages ago, try the search, you should find it somewhere, all the other mods like exhaust/filter etc do not make a lot of difference and cost a lot of dosh .

$$ca$h$$ you don't think the XLC 300 is too well built, what problems have you had? Does anyone know if the same applies to the XLC 500?
I was considering this over the Qz450 as a few peeps have the XLC 500 over on quadheaven and seem to think its a decent upgrade to the 450.

Well its my first quad, and every time I have ridden over rough ground things seem to go wrong, simple things but stops the bike running my earth lead snapped off, the connectors to the inline fuse fell apart, my cdi unit cooked itself, my cooling fan mounts snapped off, rad hose split, and the chain support weld has started to give :o, its a 57 plate with low mileage and 2 previous owners. The 450 and 500 look very nice and I really cant comment on them as I know very little about other quads but I guess they are still made in Taiwan and the same materials must be used on all qz's, which has put me off a bit to getting another qz,

Always a bummer when your quad breaks down, I had no trouble with my XLC (other than a thermo-switch) so speak as I find but you do generally get what you pay for in life .

I got my son one for his first quad, i had same problems all right on road but as soon as you hit a bit of rough things fell off.
I believe that's why you see a lot of the 300's for sell with very low mileage.

Red pred, I have been looking at the mod section about xlc, I have a 36t sprocket on the exploded views of the engine it states 38t/40t it also has a k&n filter on but have just ordered a Dt form urbanquads as I noticed the rubber was a bit split yesterday as I stripped the carb coz its a non runner had 30 mins run in the last 3 wks ffs
