Hi everybody,
Cool thing you have going here so decided to join. I'm based in Herefordshire on the doorstep of some great lanes in mid wales and the borders.I've just got a tow hitch put on the car too so I can tow me quad a bit further afield for fun so hope to meeting up with you all some time in the future. I might be the second TRF member of your club too.
I'm a CanAm fan and recently switched from a DS 650 to a Renegade. I'm now thinking of having surgery to remove the smile from my face.
Cheers,
Demented

Sounds like a road trip in the offering!

Where abouts in Herefordshire are you?
Are there lots and lots of lanes?
From what I remember when we used to hunt in that area there was a lot of well rutted and / or overgrown / obstructed lanes!

Lovely area to explore though I am up for it
Look forward to meeting up with you.

Yeah normally stuck up a lane, upside down and covered in Sh&Łe....
It is hard to be modest when you are as perfect as me.:D

Anyways, I'm based in Leominster. Favourite ride areas are the Long Mynd around church stretton, Bucknell and Erwood. So yeah, would happily lead an expedition for ye.:D

Lanes will be a bit overgrown at this time of year but we have a fairly good choice dotted about with some longer upland routes available like black yatt and doctors pool.

I've got big summer hols coming up cos I work at a college so if ye fancy it let me know, it will be great to have company.

Did you buy any branded drinks Jim ??

Did you buy any branded drinks Jim ??

Yes mate, main branded drinks & snacks. Would be too embarrassed to offer someone an item of own brand manufacture :P

You are lucky to be able to afford main brand stuff James, you do have a point though, Tesco own brand white label economy crisps for example, they have the taste and texture of picked scabs from a skin graft, the toilet roll is so thin you are guaranteed to put your finger through it, the whisky will not get you drunk no matter how much you drink, the condoms have a hole in the end, there are no withdrawal strings on their tampax range, probably best to buy branded goods then .

Big Jim

I agree, 'value' ranges are a false economy. No matter what Tesco Value flavoured condoms you buy, they all taste like chicken crisps, the cheapskates.

So, how do yuo guys like to run trips? Travel up the night before and camp/B&B close to ride area?

The lanes that I know are 'clumped' so you say have a good few quite close together and then quite a few road miles to the next set with may be the odd one en-route.

Church Stretton would fit the bill nicely. Good campsite near to pub and a nice mix of lanes in close proximity.

Failing that, kington/Presteigne would be ok but I would need to scope out a campsite/B&B for ye.

'Cos it is green laning none of them are as extreme as the routes you showed on youtube video but some are more technical (rocky/rutted) than others.
If ye fancy it let's get some dates sorted..weekends are 31Jul /01 Aug, 14/15 Aug, 21/22 Aug 28/29 aug (BH weekend but may be booked up by herself for that)....or even in the week if you fancy.

OR
Who fancies riding over via as many lanes as possible???????
(that may be hard THIRSTY work?)

Demented
6th July 2010, 10:01 AM
To make life easier shall I fix the date as the weekend of 14/15th of August based at Little Stretton campsite at:
SO 440 920

So that is me and JAgd and Raptorman so far.
If you want to kip in the back of the van Big Jim then Ludlow tuffins services would be the best bet as there is plenty of parking and ye are next to a pub and it would be a 20 min drive into the stretton ride area.

I'll get prices from campsite later this week.

Count me in guys, i just need to sort out the transport down.

Not keen on camping, to be honest never done it before...Still there is always a first time.

Can't wait.

Demented
8th July 2010, 03:44 PM
OK, how many do I need to find cheap B&B (next to a pub with plenty of parking ) for?
I would think that B&B in Church Stretton itself might be a bit pricey so will look around.
I could do with knowing numbers and what sort of parking requirement you need. i.e van/trailer/artic lorry etc.

Reports of my death have been exaggerated...I'm still organising the quad trip.
To avoid the wrath of admin I will begin posting route and trip details in the 'ride out' section of the forum. I'll try to get it sorted befroe the 23rd after which computer access becomes a little more sporadic.

You are right about the ride details, you can create a new thread just for your proposed trip in the `meet ups` section, knowing how good we are at keeping on topic, I predict it will be about 5 posts before going off in a cimpletely different direction LOL
