To be honest, once I've decide whether to keep mine, or px it for a new SVA'd one. I plan to ride out to you guys for a bit of Sunday and evening greenlaning - if I'm welcome that is...

We would be pleased to have you ride with us .
Did you know new Polaris quads are homologated and dont need SVA, you can get some great deals at the moment, Predators and Outlaws for £5000 on the road, Upperdeane has recently bought an Outlaw and if you try Giffords in Staines he always has great deals on demo (new un-used) quads .

Glen at this company
http://www.atvxtreme.com/
did me a brand new Polaris Outlaw 500E for £4900 OTR (list price is nearly £7000) plus £100 delivery to my door from Scotland.
Service from the company has been great. ...and I love the quad.

Let me know what he says. As a matter of interest Steve Berry at Berry farm services told me on Saturdasy that as the 2008 polaris Outlaw is no longer available with the polaris 500cc engine with IRS. As Polaris are clearing out this years stock he can now et them for about the same price I paid in Scotland. So maybe worth double checking there also.
Steve Berry advises anybody against the KTM 525 engine as in his oponion will need servicing after every weekend ride!!! He races them and says they are bred for racing not the greenlaning, road use etc. we do. He says stick to the 500cc Polaris engine which he belives is only available on the 2008 model in the fixed rear suspension model similar to the Predator thisyear.
So in summary if you want the IRS and polaris 500cc engine buy it now ...or its gone forever!

trevor pope ktm dealer is just down the road from me, have discussed this engine with them a while back. It is no longer used in the bikes but was a good unit and they are glad it is being used in the quads as it will make sure plenty of spares are still available.
Its not as bad as steve berry makes out, full on hard core racing ,then it needs servicing around 15 hrs (if i remember correctly) but general use (ie green laning) it presents no problems. Proof of the pudding is seeing how many trouble free ktms are used for green laning.
Any 450cc race quad falls into this group of higher maintenace.

Maybe so Solo ...i'm just reporting what he told me. I trust Steve Berry and he races lots of quads and is Polaris dealer. That was his view and he really thinks us green laners and road riders should not go for the new KTM engine on the Polaris 2008 range unless we want very regualr servicing (much more than the Polaris 500cc engine I have in my 2007 model Outlaw).
Anyhow time will tell I guess.
ps. he told me some lady came in the other day and bought a new Outlaw from him as an XMAS present for the husband who doesnt know. I wonder if anybody on this forum will get one for XMAS. If not we need to find who owns it around the Basingstoke area and get them joined up!
pps. Sorry for being off the Swindon topic but I thought it worth mentioning as somebody was considering a Polaris purchase.

Whaahey im back, i was out of the scene for a few months due to some serious engine issues. I.e on the way back from the quadshow in september the oil feed pipe on my 6mth old suzuki LTR 450 decided to snap whilst i was doing approx 65mph on the A34 near Oxford!!!!! After a long wait its now back from the dealer with a "brand new" replacement engine that im now halfway through running in again ;(.
So if there are any other forum users in the Swindon area that want to meet up for a lesuirely ride out (i can nearly get to 50mph if the winds behind me ;)) Then send me a pm.
