Wellzy, if your quads only last 6 months then stop buying crap, sometimes the only way you can get the smaller quads to go well at all is to change the exhaust, air filter and jets to unrestrict them, never be afraid to change bits, the standard stuff is often restricted, even the standard exhaust on my Pred was very restrictive, probably to keep the noise down :D .

I know, it makes rubber stick ;) and repairs holes, terrible isnt it ;)

Seriously, in what way is it bad for rubber ? I've heard of a few people using it for punctures successfully. I carry a tube in my emergency kit all the time. Mainly to stick things that fall apart.

Went out with RedPred one day and my fuel cap split open after a unfriendly meeting with a tree root, Super glued it together and it together no problem. Since then iv'e always carried a tube of it with me.

Bit like condoms, never leave home with out them. :eek: But dont try to fix them with the super glue, could be bad... very bad...

17th October 2007, 10:00 PM
Duck oil is quiet expensive, due to where it comes from...
It comes from a certain type of duck only known by a few special people, it's corrosive to flesh so be careful when using it, gloves should be worn at all times!!
The full moon gets the duck into it's oil producing cycle and when milking the duck you have to be so careful that the oil doesn't get onto your hands which is difficult when milking a duck, so I am told!
The duck only manages to produce oil in the first three days following the full moon, but they can produce a fairly large quantity, usually one hundred and fiftythree thousand gallons per day for three days, it is a long hard three days for the duck milkers out there.
You maybe asking yourself why can't they milk the ducks by machine like they do with cows, the ducks aren't silly they know the difference between man and machine and they stop producing the oil if you try to milk them by machine, I guess they just love the feel of the human hand milking them.

RED PRED
17th October 2007, 10:15 PM
i must admit i was oblivious to that, those poor ducks must be bloody knackered, where abouts does the oil come from, not their ****s i hope because if i had 153,000 gallons a day coming out of it i could not imagine the pain that flow rate would cause, how big is a ducks **** ?

RED PRED
17th October 2007, 10:19 PM
bloody hell, that is 106 gallons a minute, i could find a formula to work out the diameter of the duck oil ducks ****, using the Hazen Williams formula, I will do it tomorrow at work .

RED PRED
18th October 2007, 10:43 AM
Have played about with some figures using the simple formula used to determine sprinkler orifice diameters and have come up with the following .

153,000 gallons per day = 483 litres/minute flow rate

if we take a pressure of 100 millibars then the diameter of the ducks todger would be 48.3 mm, quite impressive I think .

The formula is;

K = Q divided by the square root of P

where

K = a constant in mm (in this case the diameter of the ducks todger)
Q = flow rate in litres/minute
P = pressure in mbars

Impressive stuff

Superglue- brilliant stuff in the right places. invented for war as it was used for glueing skin back together as an emergency measure out in the field. The other great application is rubber. Used for more years than i can remember to join rubber gaskets in upvc windows. Contrary to wellzys belief, it is far from bad for rubber. I sliced open a tyre wall miles from home, popped into a superstore,glued the gash and got home. no puncture repair kit could have achieved this.
you can buy 10 tubes for a pound in them pound shops although it does not stick as well and as hard as the loctitie version. Used with an activator applied to one surface and glue to the other)it bonds instantly to practically anything.

I agree with secret solo in that it's worth buying the good stuff. I obtain mine from the aircraft stores at work, if it's good enough for a Boeing 777 then it's good enough for my bike. Incidently it has quite a short shelf life and must be kept in the fridge, they have a fridge specially for superglue. Also great if you need a o ring and havn't got the right size, cut with a razorblade and glue back together.

Thats a good point, I suppose the ducks line up alongside a conveyor belt and use a paintbrush to apply the sticky stuff as the tape passes them .I have just read an update on the `Duck Oil` site and it appears that the glue is a by-product of Duck Oil, there is a two day window in the ducks oil producing period when the duck ejaculate is too sticky to be used as oil so it is scraped off their anus-flaps and blended with water to make the Duck tape glue .Another intersting fact is the use of Canada Goose feathers to make the brushes for applying the sticky goo, the Duck oil ducks hate the Canada Goose because they tried to sell Duck oil to Primark and we all know what unethical things happen there, yes the people of the UK buy cheap clothes there !Unless there is another reason it is called `Duck` Tape,
