On sunday we met this chap on a Scorpa trials bike, it looked a nice piece of kit and had a proper comfy seat which is unusual for a trials derived bike .
Does anyone knoow what these bikes are like, Carl, Johnny, you are a fountain of bike knowledge .

Are you sitting comfortably? then i shall begin, Scorpa (pronounced Scorpa) are french and as you say mostly famous for making trials bikes but have also started making trials/trail hybrids by sticking bigger seats and tanks on thier trials bikes.
They've also made a fun/trail/enduro bike called the T Ride, a Yam WR250 motor in an enduro type frame but with shorter travel suspension to make it a bit lower and easier to throw around off road. Well rated bikes.

Do you know what he was on? they make 125/175s air cooled 4T's and water cooled 250's 2T and 4T in the big seated trials bike thingy.

:amen:

It was air cooled and I think 175cc, it looks a good bike for those of us with little legs, very light weight too .

Looks great as a green laner.
Have met so many serious riders who swear by the wr250 for green laning/enduros because its so light but powerfull.
they say its half trails, half enduro.(the scorpa)
Thanks for the info karl..

Here is a translated french page about it and a video clip too..

As you can see i dont care about spelling anymore , thats why i said honda 700 xx engine is based on yam...lol.. Doh.
Design a bike, put a world class rider on it doing stunts, it looks good, am sure that bloke could do the same on a proper wr too..
I know i couldnt but still really like the bike cos its low(er) and its the same hp as my old dr... but 35kg lighter.

He definately made it look like a normal trials bike the way he was throwing it around. TBM did a test on one a year or so ago and said it was much easier to mess around on than a normal enduro bike, Scorpa have released one with a 280 engine too.

I think it'd be great for laning and the occasional enduro.

The 3 numbers that interest me are;

30 - HP
95 - KG
850 - mm seat height

At last, a bike for those of us who are not over 6 foot tall

Just need a large sum of money now

I noticed quiet a few comments thinking it great because it aint so tall.
I think to 280 is a 2 smoke.
Cant see any prices anywhere though...

I would imagine they are quite expensive and remember they are french so they were probably on strike and never actually made enough for the UK, or refused to let them across the channel or were too busy banning burhkas !

280 is a modified WR250 lump.

Price was 7200 euro on your link i think Andy.

RED PRED

7200 euro, about £7K then, thats a lot of money for a small bike like that  if it was in the £4-5K price range I would be interested in the future but that is mad .
Shame as its perfect for shorter riders .

Be worth a look at the Scorpa importers web site, can't see they'd charge 7K for one but likely to be at least 6K........... dont get a lot for less than that.

the date of the article was 2007 so 7k euro was a bit different then..
there appears to be two places in uk that sell them put poa.

Unfortunately scorpa has gone into liquidation.
A few buyers were interested including a front for gasgas on the condition that yamaha would continue to supply the engines. Yamaha refused so guess scorpa is no more :(

I,ve been looking for a scorpa t-ride since this thread started.. A very rare machine it seems.

You only have to justify to yourself, and you know yourself very well, so you should be able get round yourself easily, & you know which of your own buttons to press... got one on order yet? !!
