I am going to create a Master Overlay for us with all our rides and location of important points such as TROs. Ive found out that the overlay can be used in Google Mpas as well as Memory Map so those that dont have MM could still use it.
Please can you put details of your favourite and regular rides in the 'routes' forum section so i can include them.
I'll include full instructions on use ect.

Not sure how I got here. But any update on the overlays. Seems like an excellent idea.

It may be a good idea to not post a route, some say that undesirables can see your route and then go and wreck the lanes, not quite sure I go along with that because anyone can get an ordnance survey map for a few quid or check out the rights of way map and get the same info, it is all very public information !

Routes are very confusing. Even with the right OS map its still hard to work out where to go. It doesn't actually say on these maps that motorised vehicles are welcome. As said above its probably best if we keep that sort of info off the net.
With the wonders of a modern GPS system its quite easy to build up a decent personal mapping system with the likes of MM.
I just wish the routes for one were clearer signed, to avoid any ambiguity and sec 59s. And that there were more of them.
I personally can't see why we can't off road on fields after the harvest and before the field is ploughed. Why should just a few people have all that land to themselves?
Lets face it they can't use it for Fox Hunting can they.

Making routes if easy if you have the following information ;
Mapping showing byways and ORPAs
Details of where TROs,restricted byways, bridlepaths and footpaths are
Thats all you need, the rest is down to your particular style of route making, I like to try and do a circular route so you only ride each byway once, sometimes change route direction or link in different roads to join the byways for a change of cafe LOL
I think you are making it more complicated than it needs to be Nick !
