This has to be my favourite ATV at the moment. I had a go on one of these at Derbyshire quads. The power and acceleration was amazing. The sportsman range is described as recreational/untility. I think many of the manufacturers are begining to acknowledge that ATV's appeal to the lesure market as well as agri.

When the going get tough... and you have to pull your mates of the ruts :) and laugh at them, this is the one to have.

Yes but Danny, the power and acceleration of a tortoise would feel great after your quad LOL, I think the renegade is the one to go for if you have a spare £10K
Just looking at the weight makes me shudder-nearly 800lbs .

brilliant quads, even the 500 has more then enough power for use nutters:84::drum:

it's like a tank in low range with 4 wheel drive, even with my bald tyres it made mince meat of lochdoon, only got stuck twice.

How true secret, i dont think i would find any 500cc ATV quick, the weight kills the performance, i would only get an ATV with at least an 800cc motor .
Wellzy, have you ever ridden a performance quad ?

WELLZY

had a go of one but was too light for my liking, i prefer off road rather then performance.

but the efi on the sportsman makes up for the weight of it.

???? so you seem to think efi gives it more power??? wrong!
a sports quad is a atv (all terrain vehicle) and designed for off road use only wellzy, therefore it is off road performance.
too light :frusty: you really dont have a clue what you are talking about do you ??

WELLZY

i do know what i am talking about, sports quads are too light for my liking, i prefer heavy quads as they are easyier to handle and better off road, sports quads can be taken off road, but up to a certain point. were did i say an EFI gives me more power??

"but the efi on the sportsman makes up for the weight of "

I think this is an implication of EFI giving more power, dont you think ?
all the same, its not true :agree:.

Wellzy you crazy fool, why do you think a heavier quad is easier to handle, lightweight means more manoueverability and performance otherwise racing quads would weigh at least 600 pounds LOL .
Heavier quads are not better because they are heavy, its because they are 4 wheel drive and with more ground clearance .
I must admit I rightly or wrongly use the term `ATV` to describe the 4 wheel drive type of quad and sports as like the Predator/Raptor/YFZ etc .

Whatever you ride just enjoy and be part of the movement :D:cool:
and stop talking crap

interesting RP, I would tend to agree as the renegade is such a cracking bike but it’s not built as well as some people thing. The likes of the Grizzly, Sportsman, kingquad etc will take allot more of a bashing than the renegade ever will. V-twin 800cc is lovely but if you intend to do serious offroading I would stick with the latter.

Mate, did your mum throw you on your head when you were younger???
why do you think aluminium and other more precious metals/fibres are used? could it be that the manufacturers are trying to lighten their quads to make them more responsive and handle better?
Name me anything that is made heavier to make it handle better???
"" sports quads can be taken off -road"" :frusty: Omfg, they are built soley for off road use.. you know, in the mud ???? On the trails,, up mountains, across the desert in the dakar rally etc.????
they were NEVER designed for road use,, do you understand yet???
why do you persist in posting total b*ll*x on all forums as you make it pretty clear you dont have much of a clue?

"but the efi on the sportsman makes up for the weight of it.",

shame as I like reading good informative reviews of quads by people that know each model well .

Have just been offered one of these as a price that is to go to be true!
Its 2008 in Camo Colours only 800 miles!

What they like on fuel?
Any other views?

RED PRED

I would imagine they are very thirsty beasts due to the weight of them, Catmandoes Polaris Scrambler uses more fuel than a Boeing 747 in a headwind !! fuel efficiency is not a good point in 4x4
type quads .

now if you were being assessed that is a whole different ball game.

Yes it is too easy, thats why they get monkeys to do it...
