Picture the following scenario;
You are about halfway round your planned route and the byway you have just arrived at has a sign saying `it is a criminal offence for vehicles to use this byway`, to divert would be very difficult as there is no easy way round and your map does not have all the local lanes because the place you are at is on the edge of the map :mad:
Now what are you going to do next ?

It may not be practical/safe to go back and in that event I would continue.
However i think we should be aware of the TRO status of routes when planning a ride. Local authorities have online information as to which routes have TRO's on them.
Hant current TRO's (http://www3.hants.gov.uk/row/making-changes/traffic-regulation-orders/current-tro.htm)
I know that this a real ball ache to us, and its getting harder to map out routes, but wether we like it or not we should respect TRO's (unless there is a safety reason why we need to use it).
We could put a section on the main site publishing details of the TRO's in out area. We could also produce a Special BHQTA Memory Map overlay outlining all the routes we use and TRO's in our area.
If you want to get into helping to campagin and map out the legal trail network you can join the Green lanes association www.glass-uk.org .They fight hard to challenge TROs. I am a member, although its mainly 4x4 enthusiast they are very good at fighing for access rights. They have a huge database of ALL rights of ways in th UK and the legal rights that exsist around them.
Hampshire council have a bit of a reputation for having very 'thin' reasons for closing lanes, they are very anti-vehicle use in the countyside, Berkshire are more moderate. At the end of the day, its important for all off road vehicles lesuire user to respect the legal status of routes as ignoring them is the very thing that will generate more preventative legislation.

Dont bite your Tongue, rage away. A long as it not insluting and dis-respectful then rage and disagreement is fine.
Access rights is a very emotive issue.
