But why do you need a road legal quad Wellzy Your only 15? Why not a get a youth race quad.

You still cant ride on the road until you pass a car test which you have to take at 17, besides, I think you would get bored on a 170cc machine very quickly .

i am allowed to get a moped license and drive anything up to 125cc which means if i get this limited down (cough):D:rolleyes: to the speed of a 125 then i can drive it on the roads and you only have to be 16 to drive a moped/quad thats under 125:cool::cool:

I think you have got that wrong, you need a full car licence to drive a quad on the road because quads are not classed as a motorbike, they are PLG, a moped (provisional) licence only allows you to drive up to 50cc (a moped), to ride a 125cc you have to be 17 but that does not entitle you to drive a quad .
So basically you cant ride a quad on the road until you are 17 and have passed your car test-sorry .

Look it all up on the site below

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/index.htm

These are the licence details

Description Category Minimum age

Mopeds with an engine capacity not exceeding 50cc and a maximum design speed not exceeding 50km/h P AGE 16

Light motorcycles with a cubic capacity not exceeding 125cc and a power output not exceeding 11kW (14.6bhp) A1 AGE 17

Motorcycles up to 25kW(33bhp) and a power to weight ratio not exceeding 0.16kW/kg. Motorcycle combination with a power to weight ratio not exceeding 0.16kW/kg A AGE 17

Any size motorcycle with or without a sidecar A 21*

But these are irrelevant because you still need to pass your car test .

these bloody website's, one minute they say you can drive 125 and under when your 16 on a moped license, and next they say you cant!!:mad:

on well, my parent's are getting it for my birthday any way:cool:

i'm not bothered about the engine size, it's the looks for me as well:cool:

You will be bothered by the engine size, remember you are used to a 210cc two stroke so a 170cc four stroke will seem very slow, still you could always look at it on your drive and dream of two years time when you can take your car test (after all those expensive lessons), unless your parents pay for them as well, and ride it on the road :D

Another tip matey, before you put a post up, check out the facts
