So here it it.... The first 1000 cc Quad and i guess by necessity its a ATV.

From an ATV persective its an awesome machine. I am wondering however what you need all that power for. My guess is that when it goes to using a ATV for work power gives the capability to pull more weight and therefore able to use bigger agri tools.

From an off road perspective i cant see how a 1000cc will give you more capability than say a 800. But What do i know.

It seems however that quads/ATV are getting bigger engines and more power all the time.

Must say i have always liked the Arctic Cat range, great quality, solid go anywhere machine. I was seriously considering the 600 v2 before i bought my scrambler.

ARCTIC CAT LAUNCH 1000 THUNDERCAT

Arctic Cat has taken the lead in the quad capacity race with the launch of its new Thundercat 4x4 1000.

Actually only a flimsy 950cc, the new Arctic Cat motor is a liquid-cooled V-Twin, tuned for maximum torque, but is still claimed to be the fastest accelerating quad on the market. Aren't they all. The selectable 2WD/4WD machine features a fully auto CV transmission with an engine braking system and 10 inches of suspension movement all round. Electronic fuel injection is also featured.

Total weight is a claimed to be a mere 716 pounds, so with the right amount of speed it should be able to punch a hole clean through any Weston sand hill, or cut a track through the thickest forest.

Not bad, I think they should make ATV`s lighter to give a better power to weight ratio .
I always think a great engine for a quad would be the one that is fitted in the new Triumph Bonneville, 865cc vertical twin with balancer shafts, DOHC, 4 valves per cylinder, loads of torque, I had the 790cc version and in the mid-range it was very torquey, and the sound of that engine was great .
