as per title

the Suzuki LTZ400 is top of my list, any owners insight into this model please?

quoted from my intro to give you some background info on my buying situation do you think the LTZ will fit my needs?......i dont want a mental quad just a good all round one :)

i am completely new to quads so get ready for a load of daft questions as i'm currantly looking at a road legal one..i am in hampshire

i have been riding bikes since the age of 12 (now mid 30s)

my currant bikes are DRZ400S and a 2001 fireblade ...the quad will be an addition with the bonus that my fiancee could ride it on her car license

we have both ridden quads but ONLY off road

i think a quad could be the perfect thing to compliment my DRZ and fireblade
Fireblade for two-up and solo fun
DRZ400S for commuting, laning and general dicking about on
quad for wet fun, wet commuting, heading out on the Legal green Lanes and country roads with my fiancee and winter frolics when it is too icey for the DRZ too ride to work

I have researched the LTZ400 in the past and all the reviews say it is a good quad, light weight with good handling and adequate power for all round riding .
The only negatives I have read concern the magnesium engine cases ? but you already know whether that is right or not .
I dont know why you think the Predator and Raptors are mental, they only go as fast as you want then to !!

the magnesium cases are the same as my DRZ400S...same engine, you can get case guards very cheap from the states .... $40 per set iirc I bought some as soon as i bought the DRZ

I've never had one but have seen them on road and they do tend to struggle for top end speed so your crusing speed has to be a bit slower, they will sit at 50mph otherwise the engine is screaming.

I have read the top speed is 65 to 68mph, so a fair bit slower than the bigger engined sports quads as you would expect .

Again depending on what you are using it for greenlaning short road distances no problem.
I am sure it will be perfect for you as not often long road trips, i think the quadilla250 use to be ok, but slower.
I went straight for a larger engine and i glad i did.

on the road on the DRZ i generaly sit at 60 so not that much slower

i'll have to see if i can get a go on one, but it is definately the firm favourite

thankyou for replying :)

cheers guys also looking at a brand new Quadzilla 450 sport..less than £4k on the road with 12months warranty

from what i've read they seem petty good...anyone tell me what engine they have? i know it is a four stroke but who is it made by?

Big Jim

A couple on here have matching Quadzilla 450's, they should be able to give you some details about them.

They do seem to go well, that's fo sure.

RED PRED

They have the same engine as the Predator, its a sleeved down 450cc from 500 .
Its a 4 valve, DOHC four stroke single made by Fuji Heavy Industries, part of Subaru ?

y2blade
30th June 2009, 12:24 PM
thanks any idea if they are reliable or should i steer clear ?

ask you know the whole "quad thing" is all new to me so you gotta expect these daft questions ;)

thanks in advance btw

Keep asking, its what we are here for .
My Pred engine has been very reliable and has good power, so I dont see why not, Johnnyboy will tell you about his QZ 450, it seems a good quad .

i'll drop him a PM.....I just ran through the quadzilla 450 sport with adrian flux and it is a little more than the LTZ400 to insure but still well under £300 a year :)

so looking good

i'm all ears if anyone has any other suggestions for a quad newbie with £4k to spend

thanks again

true :)

but £4k is what i am willing to spend and if i can buy brand new with warranty for that i will do, rather than 3-4 year old with unkown history

as long as the brand new otion isnt a pile of shite (unreliable) i'll be happy with it

I am in the research stage and i'm all ears :) as i'd never heard of quadzilla untill the NEC bike show last year

thanks

I think that was possibly a one off, I bought my QZ300 from there and Warrior has had a lot of work done by him, he did a bit of work on my QZ when I bent the rear disc and it was ok, who is to say anyone else is any better ?

y2blade

from what i have read while searching around and from various PMs it seems to me the only real fault i can find with the Quadzilla 450 is that the brake pads last about 5 mins
