I did notice the left wheel seemed to be wobbleing a bit but put it down to the tyre not being perfect.
Nice knee Johnny, are you sure nothing needs to be done in there while its open.

We had a good ride today. No casualties. We ended up at devils puchbowl.
hav,nt been there for over a year as last time we swore we would never do them devils steps ever again !
Can get access to all the byways again now. We done some stupidly big hill climbs through the woods, was a long way up and very steep.
We also tackled the "steps" again. horrible, the clip shows raptorman going up one of many but the clip also fails to show how steep and large the rocks are.
Did the whoops in the sand over the other side of rushmoor common too.
would strongly advise against inexperienced riders doing what we did as there is a very high risk of serious injury and extreme damage to ones quad.

That's the problem with vids & pics, they never show how steep things actually are!!

Everyone always says they will ride up the Widowmaker at Tom's Farm, until you get there and see how steep it is!!!

I bet those steps are a nightmare to ride up!!

Note to Graham, maybe we go down them instead!!!!!!!!!!

secret solo
25th May 2009, 02:14 PM
going down them could be even worse as you run a very high risk of going over the bars and the quad then following through. (splat)
I agree that widowmaker does not look bad in all the 100,s of vid clips. never seen it but can believe how steep it is.

We went down some waterfall type drops which are probably similar to those steps, and we held the backs of the quads with a rope as we went down, wouldn't have attempted to ride down without the ropes, no way!!

I nearly went over the handlebars yesterday, tried to go over a stream that was wider & deeper than it looks too fast, the front of the quad fell in and I flew forward, bent the indicator bracket & fell on the accelerator lever so the wheels all spun at a million miles an hour and covered me in mud, thank god no one had a camera then!!! Wouldn't want to go right over the handlebars, that was bad enough :( I need a drivers airbag !!

Those guys probably have lots of cash to spare, most of us lot would not risk damage to our quads because of the money it takes to mend them :o

Lots of cash?? i would say they have huge nads, driving up a mountain side like that.. I think that would scare the pants off me in someone elses vehicle to wreck

You have got to have some pretty big balls to do that crazy stuff, I get scared riding up kerbs!

The reason I did not state large balls is because I am packing the kind of tackle you would normally see on a grand national winner LOL

Its not down to big balls, its down to having a roll cage and full harness. You cant fall off a 4WD................. in fact i think there all a bunch of poofs:cheer2:
