Is there any insurance companies that do on-line insurance quotes for quads? Most of the ones i have tried have just been the "we'll contact you shortly" type. I just want to try a few different sites to get an idea of what i should be paying
thanks ..lee

They are all the same, ie, crap .
They give you the quote then when you say you will try elsewhere they come up with a better one, keep nagging them to give you a better deal .
MCE are another company to try, what will happen is that you spend ages waiting while listening to bloody crap music until they come back with a deal that saves you a few quid whilst increasing your phone bill by the same amount lol

thanks for the replies. So there is no site where i can just punch in my details and receice an instant quote? Do any of the comparison sites cater for quads? I'll try the mentioned companies too

I think quads are a pretty specialised insurance risk, I have only used two companies, some bike insurers wont touch quads .
You should get what you need with MCE or Bikesure, you could try playing one against the other but be prepared for a long phone call .
I prefer to talk to someone rather than use an online quote .

just for people information. Bikesure/Adrian flux do have an instant on line quote system. £246 TPFT with the mrs, 0NCB, pillion included, 31year old.
Not bad at all. I might just try MCE too but i'm more than happy with that quote. Now how much is the Tax disc going to set me back?

My MCE insurnace is 986.00 PA, any other quoute i got was WAY over that! Apparently, it is because ive been in the country for less that 2 years, have a huge quad, no brick garage, etc....... Oh, thats TPFT too.

Not much i can do about it, since nobody else will even insure me due to my short time in the UK... Im just stoked i can have a quad :)

They use any excuse to take your money, I can see the lack of a garage putting up the price but not so much the others .
The main reason quad insurance is costly is because there have been a lot of quad thefts .
The other reason could simply be your age Adam !

Have just renewed my insurance, £148, TPFT, 2 years NCD, £350 excess and have to use an approved lock .
Make sure you know what you are getting as they add on stuff like Optional additional personal protection and road rage, breakdown, helmet and leathers cover etc, none of which I want so check out the premium for these little extras .

Thanks man, i will do! I went through it with a fine tooth comb... Couldnt bring it down much. I even asked about having a ground anchor installed, alarm, etc. They said it wont help much. I do use two approved disk locks though :) Yip, my age is a big issue that said!

It must be mainly down to theft, I find quad insurance costs more than bike insurance which is crazy as bikes are far more dangerous to ride than a quad, to an insurance company, theft is the biggest risk .

Yeah, i think so too. Is quad theft pretty bad in Basingstoke, hook, etc?

RED PRED

I dont know, maybe the number thefts is high in proportion to the number of quads .

Thats true, forgot about that, so why have they never asked for it in then past ?

evilbrown

same as me, i had an email demanding it in 7 days or they would cancel my policy.

thought it was a bit rude as i was never told to send them a copy or recieved any other emails asking for it.

The worst for me was the letter saying they would just take my money and renew my policy, they quoted £163, I rang them to say they were NOT to automatically renew the policy so they sent me a letter stating the policy would not be renewed automatically but if I did want to renew with them the price would be £148, how does that work ??

I used falcon insurance, by phone and online, very quick and insured straight away, and out on my quad 20mins later.

Falcon are a great choice, we use them as our no.1 referral. They are the cheapest 95% of the time and are even offering a price match guarantee at the moment, so even if you find it a little cheaper elsewhere after you take it out, you have a few days to match it ! Can't be bad. £149 pa for my quad TPFT, £250 excess. PS: Tax is 68.75 for 6 months or £125 for a year.
