It is a good idea to fit a 38 rear tooth sprocket to reduce the engine revs for road use and to stop over revving in top, it also gives a higher top speed .

To gain a noticeable power increase, fit an SMC stainless steel exhaust system along with a DT1 air filter connected directly to carburettor and 116 main jet, raise the needle to top position to eliminate any flat spots .

A battery support is a useful mod to prevent the battery breaking through the thin plastic box, simply bend a strip of steel (30x1.5mm ish) around the battery and up over the top of the plastics above the frame tubes .

If help is neede with any of the above, please send me a message asking for details .

The standard top speed is about 55mph, with the gearing and exhaust etc mod the speed should be 65 to 69mph .

Fitted a 36 tooth rear sprocket to warriorriders QZ300XLC this evening, took just under 2 hours to do and a fairly easy job .
Immediate results were favourable, hopefully Nigel will keep us informed .

Glad you are pleased, you should get a higher top speed with a minimal loss of acceleration, next will see what main jet you are running .

i have an ugraded exhaust and filter but not sure if the bloke who installed them the previous owner had a main jet installed to. where abouts do you fit them to the carb?
many thanks rob (new quadzilla owner)

also where do you buy you spares from?

The main jet is accessed by removing the float chamber bowl, this is done by removing four cross head screws on the bottom of the carb, it may be better to take the carb off to do this because the screws are soft and round off easily .
The main jet is the small round brass item with a hole in it, it should be screwed into a tapping about the centre of the carb, it will have a slot in it to insert a flat screwdriver for removal, the main jet size is stamped on the bootom of the jet in tiny letters, you can get new jets from any QZ dealer .
The other useful adjustment to make if you have a flat spot, is to raise the needle by fitting the circlip into a lower groove on the needle (if this has not already been done) .
Hope this helps .

Check your spark plug and see what colour the tip is . If there is any white, you'll need to get the carb rejetted as you may be running lean which is not good for the engine.

Its all trial and error, carb adjustment is a task that is dying out, sadly, now that fuel injection is becoming the norm, a great shame in my opinion !
