I have just brought a bul ray dvd player amazing quality but i need to upgrade my amp and speakers anyone know much about them.

I have read the usual mags and have recommended the yamaha (of course) dsp ax863se amp in my price range and yet to decide on speakers but you could spend a few quid on these alone

Not sure about that kind of stuff but I do know you have to match the speaker Watts to the amplifier, ie a 400 amp should not have speakers less than 400 Watts rating, also the impedence should match- I am not electronically knowledgeable but do know failure to do the above could be costly !

I quite fancy one of these, & may get a PS3 as they have one built in.

the PS3 got 5 star in what Hi Fi sound and vision mag i did think about getting this but i think there is abit of fan noise.

I got panasonic dmp bd35 £300.00, I have got a 5.1 system but this 7.1
so need 7 speakers and all the leads to go with it.

there is a fan noise on the PS3 but it isnt that bad considering the things you can do on it... you can plug a USB mouse and keyboard into it and use it as a computer by plugging it into your router. also the games DVD, bluray high def etc etc and playing the games online is free unlike Xbox! any questions about the PS3 just ask and i'll try to help. my mates have the xbox 360's and they break every month or 2. they even have a lighting system that tells you that it is broken; imagine if your quad had a light on it that told you that it was f***ed when you turn the key on. Playstation all the way... it is also possible to offroad in GTA iv with the 4x4 cars along the beach (very fun :D)

7 speakers? Is "her indoors" happy with that many speakers cluttering up the front room???!!!

Sounds good though, the more the merrier.

I did think about an X Box 360 as they are so cheap now, but no one really has anything good to say about them.

If you see a cheap deal (new of course) for a PS3 & GTA4 please let me know.

Would say the best solution would be a media centre (pc) .It can have a blueray player/writer £135, and being a media centre will be able to play any format (divx, mpeg 4, h246, avi etc.) Totally upgradeable, will play pc games, play station games with emulator, full jpeg compatibility, very easy to download films then play without any messing around, blah blah blah...
the main advantage is that graphics, sound system, blueray player is all so much cheaper for a pc over stand alone.
