Just come back from a 5 hour ride and Im Knackard.

Ok so its hot so maybe i have a little excuse but really... i could do with been fitter for riding. Not that i want to win the QH racing championship *cough* *cough*, but mabe if i didnt get so tired i wouldnt make so many mistakes :D

Ok, lets forget im 39 and fat.

So what suggestion do people have about been fit for riding. Whats sort of training do you do ? Whos keen enough to go to the gym 3 times a week to enhance their riding ability. I went to the gym last year twice a week religiously, not so much to get fit for Quading but to lust after all the gorgouse Women !! well, I thought it was a good reason :p

Danny

The more you ride off road the better your endurance will become.

Or you could try using the force.:D

So it was you Perving at me in the gym......Only joking, he was much younger :p

Well as a nurse I can definitely say that being fit for sport is very important. I have seen a few sportsmen coming in the hospital with injuries caused by not really being capable of the activity.
I think going to the gym at least twice a week is good for everybody in many ways, both physically and mentally. I dont know what the best type of exercising for riding a quad would be but i think any exercise is better than non.

I went to the gym monday, did 15 minutes and thought sod it, I am going to die gracefully, I absolutely hate going to the gym, it is so boring and brain numbing, I have no desire to be the next Arnie Schwarzennegger :(
I dont go for this modern lifestyle stuff, my Nan was 95 when she passed away, she smoked, drank, lived in a house with no heating, ate dripping, did not touch poly mono unsaturated fats or whatever the latest food experts call them, ate cheese and proper butter, crisps and chocolate and did not drink 2 litres of bottled water a day, her secret was everything in moderation and she was right .

I was at the gym this morning at 6pm before work

I know what you mean about the 'modern' lifestyle. I think a lot of illness are hereditery though. Sounds like you'll be absolutly fine.

I want to be fitter for Quad activites anyway. Im usually knacked after one of our group rides, an indication of how unfit i am, and as you are aware the scrambler is a big heavy beast to throw around. Need to work on upper body strength.

"I was at the gym this morning at 6pm before work"

No wonder you are knackered, I thought only superman could make time go backwards, did not know you worked 12 hours in advance LOL .
Stop telling us about your physical exertions, I am getting in a sweat just reading about it :(

Modern life and its marketing makes me laugh, bottled water, the greatest con trick in history, what next, bottled air LOL
Do people really think that bottled water comes from an idyllic mountain spring, of course it does`nt, it comes from a tap after being purified just like tap water .
`Volvic, fills you with Volcanicity`, water filtered through volcanic rocks for centuries-no sh*t, 90p a litre bottle, its nearly as dear as than petrol .

Just had a thought, if riding your quad makes you knackered then surely that in itself is a fitness regime, albeit an enjoyable one, dont bother going to the gym, just ride your quad more, it will also have the advantage of working the muscles you actually need to work :D:cool:. SORTED, right, I am off to cancel my gym membership .

My bloody back is killing me today, I think I have suffered another subluxation of the vertabrae in the lumbar region, out of you lot, I imagine only Quadgirl knows what this means, do you do manipulations Quadgirl ?:(
my next quad will have to be an armchair one like dannys .

I've been going to the gym now for a couple of months 3-4 times a week and i do feel better. Im no where near as breathless as i was and not as tired after long days out on the quad.

Its worth doing but its hard get get motivated to do. Im really busy these days so often the only way i get to the gym is if i go early morning before work. It takes maximum effort to get up at 630 , grab my stuff and go.

I have not lost any weight at all  If fact i may have put a bit on.
